A Green Industrial Project in Gilsum, New Hampshire

W.S. Badger Facility

The Owner wanted to build a very environmentally responsible and sustainable office and production facility for their natural body products without focusing on a formal LEED certification. The design and construction teams consisted of all local professionals, and most of the building materials were sourced from within a 500-mile radius, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic. The building is a modified timber frame structure with enough windows and skylights to bring natural light and ventilation to every space. It is heated and cooled with water-sourced heat pumps, a propane boiler and a cooling tower. A large commercial kitchen and cafeteria space were designed to provide an organic lunch for all of the employees. In 2020, 1,384 rooftop and ground-mounted solar panels were installed at the facility to generate 100% of Badger’s electricity.

Phase 1 was 25,000sf (office, production, shipping/receiving) and Phase 2 was 8,500sf (warehouse and expanded production).
